In quietness and confidence is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15
Isaiah 30:15
Many times in our lives we forget to take the time to be still and be in the presence of the Lord. We remember to pray but do not take the time to listen to what our Lord is saying to us. As Bishop Fulton J. Sheen stated, "Prayer begins by talking with God, but it ends in listening to Him." Proverbs tells us, "those who search for me shall surely find me" (8:17). So it is in the searching and listening that we find the peace and comfort of His love and grace. Jesus knew the importance of getting away from all of the busyness and hustle and bustle in our lives in order to sit quietly in the presence of the Father. He called us to do the same:
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly. (Matthew 11:29 MSG)
When you hear that little voice of yours telling you, "I just need a little peace and quiet," it may be the Holy Spirit letting you know to slow down and rest and be in His presence because our Lord is having trouble getting through to you during all of the noise and clamor going on your life.
"Be still, and know that I am God"
(Psalm 46:10)
(Psalm 46:10)

Love this verse and picture! I seek His quiet presence often looking for answers and His divine will!
ReplyDeleteHappy WFW!
Wow, these were verses we were reading just last night in our Bible Study. Quiet trust! and also "Seek first the kingdom of God" Thank you and God bless you.
ReplyDeleteLove the graphic and love the verse. One of my longtime favorites.
ReplyDeleteOh that is a good thing to remember. Makes me aware that when I'm shooting my mouth off I am weak. Brr...that tree looks really cold though!
ReplyDeletelove the verse! so true.
ReplyDeleteBlessings Brian, Beautiful photo but not one I would like to return to in STILLwater, MN! Though it truly shows the beauty of STILLNESS. Your reflection is so true how we need to have a dialog and spend time in listening to God! Holding on to His strength, for He is my confidence! I really like how your words tied it all together with Matthew to Come and rest in Him...and once more to the STILLness of one of my favorite Psalms:42. I love the beauty of scenes of snow but no longer like the freezing cold, but when it snows, it's not cold but when it's a blizzard, we really can't see... and how
ReplyDeletewe truly need to SEE more clearly God's Word and direction as we trust Him blindly but in confidence. Thanks for sharing this and your visit! So thankful that I can keep company with the King of kings!
Peace,
Peggy
So nice to have found your blog! What a blessing to hear your story and get to know you! Have a blessed Word Filled Wednesday!!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, how I desire to live this out fully! What an amazing and beautiful graphic to go with that verse. God is good.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Brian. Too often many people's prayer lives are a one sided conversation. (I raise my hand). But to truly know God, we must sit quietly and listen to Him.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Joan
So true, i guess this is the one that the Christians most neglected sitting at the feet of the Father, with the busyness and the rushing and the hustling, seems like we don't really have time to listen to God anymore. Since i got married 2 years ago, i stopped working and just stay at home, i have so much time not only talking with the Father but also listening. God quieted my soul, seems like I'm so far from the cares of the world, i feel so close to him, which i never experienced before.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this!
Blessings!
Wow, that is just beautiful. Blessings ~
ReplyDeleteLoved the photo. It depicts true serenity. I just want to sit in that setting in His peace. More listening, less talking.
ReplyDeleteI, too, think Bishop Fulton J. Sheen was a wise and Godly man.
