Merry Christmas!

The Birth of Jesus

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Save a Forgotten Equine

This story is from a friend of mine, N Lynn Mazer, and desribes why she is a volunteer with horse rescue. After reading the article please take the time to visit the website to learn more about this awesome cause. The story is reprinted with her permission.

Meet Whisper, a now 4 year old mare. When Animal Control siezed her from the person who starved her and allowed her wounds to fester Whisper was so close to death she couldn't even stand on her own. She was brought to our rescue farm, Save a Forgotten Equine (SAFE http://www.safehorses.org/ ) December 14, 2008 and volunteers immediately began 24/7 care.

Within a short period of time she had to be transported to an equine hospital when we could not keep her warm enough nor standing easily. The contraption you see in the upper photo was devised to hook her to a winch and help her to her feet. The face mask was to protect her from banging her head into things as she struggled to stay on her feet.

Horses are not made to lay down for too long periods or their internal organs can be seriously damaged - so she had to be not only lifted, but suspended for long periods of time.

She was finally able to stand on her own January 2, 2009 and within a few months she had gained weight and looked nothing like the horse brought to us. The biggest thing to note...no matter how cruelly most of these animals are treated, they always seem to be able to forgive, if not completely forget, and become incredibly loving and devoted partners.

The other thing to note is that it takes a lot to house and care for a horse but they can go from starving to healthy in 2 months given the proper nutrition. For them to starve...how anyone could do that to such amazing creatures is beyond me.

Whisper was adopted by a wonderful family mid-June of that year and continues to thrive (yes, we do check up every year on every horse that comes through the rescue).

Thanksgiving Reflection

Once upon a time
Is how this story starts.
When I was just a babe
You touched my parents hearts.

They brought me to the water
And made a vow to You
To raise me to know Jesus,
His teachings through and through.

When I reached my teen years
The heart You touched was mine.
I knew Your Son had come for me,
Would love me for all time.

As I went out in the world,
A young adult you see,
I tried to do it on my own
But You still carried me.

As I tried to win the race
Of fame and fortune true,
I must confess my sin right now
I had forgotten You.

Though troubles were many You stayed right there
Through all my pain and strife.
My parents and You had taken a vow
To guide me through my life.

Looking back now I know You were there
Through all of those dark years.
You offered me unconditional love
And dried up all my tears.

You blessed me with a baby boy
Who fills my heart with pride,
A baby girl as sweet as can be
My love I cannot hide.

My parents and siblings have always been there
To show me how Christ cares.
Nieces and nephews have shown me Your love
Which helps me with what life bears.

You blessed me with friends all of my days
To brighten my life with joy.
Your church with traditions, love and support
Has made me one happy boy.

So today I am thankful for all of Your love
As we celebrate this Thanksgiving.
Please help me to shine my light on the world
And teach others Your Son is still living.

Praise to the Lord! ~ WFW

With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD:

“He is good;
his love toward Israel endures forever.”

And all the people gave a great shout of
praise to the LORD,
because the foundation of the house of the
LORD was laid.

Ezra 3:11

Be Still My Heart ~ WFW

In quietness and confidence is your strength.

Isaiah 30:15

Many times in our lives we forget to take the time to be still and be in the presence of the Lord. We remember to pray but do not take the time to listen to what our Lord is saying to us. As Bishop Fulton J. Sheen stated, "Prayer begins by talking with God, but it ends in listening to Him." Proverbs tells us, "those who search for me shall surely find me" (8:17). So it is in the searching and listening that we find the peace and comfort of His love and grace. Jesus knew the importance of getting away from all of the busyness and hustle and bustle in our lives in order to sit quietly in the presence of the Father. He called us to do the same:

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly. (Matthew 11:29 MSG)

When you hear that little voice of yours telling you, "I just need a little peace and quiet," it may be the Holy Spirit letting you know to slow down and rest and be in His presence because our Lord is having trouble getting through to you during all of the noise and clamor going on your life.

"Be still, and know that I am God"

A Prayer When Making a Difficult Decision

Dear Lord,

The decision I have to make will affect my life profoundly, and that makes me tense and afraid. Please calm my mind. Show me what to do and how to do it. Help me listen for your answer and know the answer when it comes. Above all, help me know that it will come and rely on Your guidance. Please Lord, always help me to do Your will.

In Jesus name, Amen

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1

Grow and Flourish in the Lord ~ WFW

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord,
you must continue to live in obedience to Him.
Let your roots grow down into Him and draw up nourishment from Him,
so you will grow in faith, strong, and vigorous in the truth you were taught.
Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all He has done.

Five Finger Prayer

At our church we have been studying John Ed Mathison's Book, treasures of the transformed life. In it he speaks of the Five Finger Prayer which I thought I would share with you. Here is how it works, Look at your hand and let your fingers be your guide.

1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you, Family and Friends.

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and lead us to our Father in Heaven. This can include teachers, choir members, ministers and all of the laity. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all, which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, 'The least shall be the greatest among you.' Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15

Oh Where, Oh Where has the Old Man Been?

Hi, Hello, Good Morning, Good Evening, and Good Day,

I hope that covers it all. I know, I know you have been missing me, Right? Well, I just thought I would drop by to let y'all know what I have been up to.

Sometimes in our lives we must step back and pause and get more in touch with ourselves and how we can be an instrument of His peace and love and His faithful servant. “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10

So as you might infer, this requires me to listen to Him and hear where I can improve which has lead me to concentrate on improving my quality of life. There are certain things I must accomplish to be able to serve Him properly.

First, I need to find employment. As you know, I've been unemployed for a long time for health reasons but I'm feeling much better now and I'm ready to go back to work. I am working as a Virtual Assistant, If I can be of assistance to your business or organization, please visit my website, http://www.virtualmanagementassistant.com/ I also have been volunteering at Emerging Healthcare, you can find their link in the sidebar.

I am also working on improving my health. Well, this is going pretty well. To date, I've lost a total of 130 pounds and continue to do well. In fact, I lost 7 more pounds this week. I am posting on my health blog, OLDMANBLURTSOUT, My Journey to a Happier and Healthier Lifestyle, pretty regularly now. It helps me with my weight loss. Please drop by and become a follower today!!!

I believe we have found a church we like now though my daughter still wants to check out one more. In a way, I hope she likes the one we are going to better because I am beginning to get to know some people and it is important to have this fellowship with others. "Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do." Hebrew 10:25 I have faith God will lead me in the direction He desires.

Well, I hope that helps answer the question of where I've been. I will try to post more often; in the meantime please don't forget drop by my health blog and follow.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for all the wonderful people You have put into my life. It makes my heart leap for joy to feel the love of all of the brothers and sisters who continue to pray for me and my ministry. Help me to continue to Live a Life of Worship and bring Your love to all of the lives I touch. Please Lord, make me an example of Your peace and love that I may inspire others toward Your Son and my Lord, Jesus Christ. Thank you for your grace, it still amazes me. You have truly blessed my soul and my life. May Your will be done.

In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen

Prayer Request ~ Moving and Looking for Work

If you are wondering where the old man has been, I have been in the process of moving closer to my family. I have been experiencing many difficulties for awhile now and I am concentrating on finding employment and living healthier. Thank God I have a family who is there for me and is so very supportive in this time of troubles. Please continue to keep me and my daughter in your prayers and I will continue to pray for all of you. It may be awhile before I get settled in and I am able to begin posting again. Please pray I will be able to find a job which will meet my families needs as well as serve God's plan in my life.

Thank you and God bless.

I pray, Father, that out of your glorious riches you may strengthen me with power through your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within me, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. [Adapted from Ephesians 3:16-21]

The Water of Life

It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen rain in almost a month. The crops were dying. Cows had stopped giving milk. The creeks and streams were long gone back into the earth. It was a dry season that would bankrupt several farmers before it was through. Every day, my husband and his brothers would go about the arduous process of trying to get water to the fields. Lately this process had involved taking a truck to the local water rendering plant and filling it up with water. But severe rationing had cut everyone off. If we didn't see some rain soon... we would lose everything.

It was on this day that I learned the true lesson of sharing and witnessed the only miracle I have seen with my own eyes. I was in the kitchen making lunch for my husband and his brothers when I saw my six-year old son, Billy, walking toward the woods. He wasn't walking with the usual carefree abandon of a youth but with a serious purpose. I could only see his back. He was obviously walking with a great effort... trying to be as still as possible. Minutes after he disappeared into the woods, he came running out again, toward the house. I went back to making sandwiches; thinking that whatever task he had been doing was completed.

Moments later, however, he was once again walking in that slow purposeful stride toward the woods. This activity went on for over an hour: walking carefully to the woods, then running back to the house. Finally, my curiosity got the best of me. I crept out of the house and followed him on his journey (being very careful not to be seen... as he was obviously doing something important and didn't need his Mommy checking-up on him).

He was cupping both hands in front of him as he walked; being very careful not to spill the water he held in them... maybe two or three tablespoons were held in his tiny hands. I sneaked closer as he went into the woods. Branches and thorns slapped his little face but he did not try to avoid them. He had a much greater purpose. As I leaned in to spy on him, I saw the most amazing site.
Several large deer loomed in front of him. Billy walked right up to them. I almost screamed for him to get away. A huge buck with elaborate antlers was dangerously close. But the buck did not threaten him... he didn't even move as Billy knelt down. And I saw a tiny fawn laying on the ground, obviously suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion, lift its head with great effort to lap up the water cupped in my beautiful boy's hand.

When the water was gone, Billy jumped up to run back to the house and I hid behind a tree. I followed him back to the house; to a spigot that we had shut off the water to. Billy opened it all the way up and a small trickle of water began to creep out. He knelt there, letting each drip of water slowly fill up his makeshift "cup," as the sun beat down on his little back. It was just last week he was punished for playing with the garden hose, and received a stern lecture on the importance of not wasting water. So, I'm sure that is why he didn't ask me to help him.

It took almost twenty minutes for the drops to fill his hands. When he stood up and began the trek back, I was there in front of him. His little eyes just filled with tears. "I'm not wasting," was all he said. As he began his walk, I joined him... with a small pot of water from the kitchen. I let him tend to the fawn. I stayed away... it was his job.

I stood on the edge of the woods watching the most beautiful heart I have ever known working so hard to save a life. As the tears that rolled down my face began to hit the ground, they were suddenly joined by other drops... and more drops... and more. I looked up at the sky. It was as if God, Himself, was weeping with pride.

Some will probably say that this was all just a huge coincidence. That miracles don't really happen. That it was bound to rain sometime. And I can't argue with that... I'm not even going to try. All I can say is that the rain that came that day saved our farm... just like the actions of one little boy saved a life.

"This story is to honor the memory of my beautiful Billy, who was taken from me much too soon.... but not before he showed me the true face of God; in a little sunburned body."

Warning: Americans are in Denial about Their Health

Today, our collective health is in danger. A mere twenty-five years ago less than 10% of the American population was considered obese. Now over 30% of Americans are documented as being obese with the largest growth rate being in the south. Mintel, a market research leader, found that only 25% of survey respondents said they suffer from or have been diagnosed as being obese or overweight. According to the Center for Disease Control, however, 67% of Americans fall into this category and likewise Mintel found 65% of the respondents were actually obese or overweight. It is an epidemic of mass proportions (pun intended).

How Much Does A Prayer Weigh?

Louise Redden, a poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face, walked into a grocery store. She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and asked if he would let her charge a few groceries. She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they had seven children and they needed food. John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her and told her to leave his store.

Visualizing the family needs, she said: "Please, sir! I will bring you the money just as soon as I can."

John told her he could not give her credit, as she did not have a charge account at his store. Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the conversation between the two. The customer walked forward and told the grocer-man that he would stand good for whatever she needed for her family.

The grocer-man said in a very reluctant voice, "Do you have a grocery list?" Louise replied, "Yes sir." "Okay" he said, "put your grocery list on the scales and whatever your grocery list weighs, I will give you that amount in groceries."

Louise, hesitated a moment with a bowed head, then she reached into her purse and took out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it. She then laid the piece of paper on the scale carefully with her head still bowed. The eyes of the grocer-man and the customer showed amazement when the scales went down and stayed down. The grocer-man staring at the scales, turned slowly to the customer and said begrudgingly, "I can't believe it."

The lady smiled and the grocer-man started putting the groceries on the other side of the scales. The scale did not balance so he continued to put more and more groceries on them until the scales would hold no more.

The grocer-man stood there in utter disgust. Finally, he grabbed the piece of paper from the scales and looked at it with greater amazement. It was not a grocery list, it was a prayer which said: "Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this in your hands."

The grocer-man gave her the groceries that he had gathered and placed on the scales and stood in stunned silence. Louise thanked him and left the store.

The customer handed a fifty-dollar bill to John as he said, "It was worth every penny of it." It was sometime later that John Longhouse discovered the scales were broken; therefore, only God knows how much a prayer weighs.

Restoring Honor

Faith, Hope, and Charity

For the next 40 days and 40 nights, take the pledge...

...I COVENANT to practice faith, hope and charity by doing these things.

First...faith. I will pray on my knees every night for the next 40 nights...starting TONIGHT. Pray for guidance, inspiration, peace...pray for the leaders of our country. Pray for their safety, and that they will receive wisdom. I will re-establish my relationship with God.

Hope...hope comes from truth. You can't have hope based on lies. If you go to the doctor and you're in the early stages of cancer, but the doctor tells you that you just have the sniffles...that's false hope, and it won't help you, in fact, it would kill you. So, we have to have honesty, to have real hope. So, I will stop all lies for the next 40 days. That includes lying to myself. I will establish a pattern of honesty and make it become habitual. I will question with boldness...everything...even the things Glenn Beck tells you every night...I will do my own research...and then pray for my own confirmation on the things I have learned. I will find out what is true in my life.

And third...I will have charity. Charity begins at home. I will do something kind for every member of your family at least once a week. I will write it down, and then do it. Also, I pledge to take notice of how blessed I really am. I live in the greatest country the world has ever known...and even the least prosperous among us, are among the wealthiest people in the world...I will be grateful.

To take the pledge at Glenn Beck's website click here.

Prayer for Anxious People

Father, I pray for all those in my circle of family and friends who are carrying heavy loads including myself...

Your Word says an anxious heart weighs a person down, and this is how I think they must feel—as if they're carrying heavy loads, more than they can bear. When they feel upset and beside themselves, calm them down and comfort them with the assurance of Your love. Help them not be overwhelmed by anxious thoughts. (Proverbs 12:25a; Psalm 94:19)

Our hearts are not supposed to be troubled; but that's their struggle—help them trust You and the Lord Jesus, as I know they must. Help them understand that You are the One who makes a way when things seem impossible; nothing is too hard for You! (John 14:27; Isaiah 43:19; Jeremiah 32:17; Luke 1:37)

Help them be faithful to You and to the way You want them to live, for You guard the lives of those who are faithful; You protect them and never turn away from them. Help them know You as their fortress, as the rock in whom they take refuge, as One who is good, whose love endures forever, whose faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 97:10; Proverbs 2:8; Psalm 37:28; 94:22; 100:5)

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Teach Me To Pray

Please teach me, Lord ...
I want to know
Exactly how to pray.

I need some words
Which ones are right?
Please tell me what to say.

I've bowed my head
I have knelt down,
But ... should I be upright?

I've closed my eyes,
I've raised my hands,
Or ... should I fold them tight?

Do I stand up?
Should I sit down?
Dear Lord ... what do you like?

Are lights turned on
Or are they off?
Maybe ...
candle light?

Wear my glasses?
Take them off?
Be at my desk or table?

Should I whisper?
Speak out loud?
Must my words be graceful?

Do I quote the Bible?
What do you think about the time?
Do You prefer the dawn?

Should I pray fast,
Or keep it slow?
Better short ... or long?

I'm new at this
What are the rules?
I want to do it right.

How do I know
You'll even hear
That I am in Your sight?

And while I sat there quietly,
Waiting for some sign,
I heard a gentle voice say,
"Oh, dearest child of mine ...

Do you think I really care
About the time of day,
Or whether you are standing up,
Or kneeling when you pray?"

"I don't care about your posture,
Or about the place you choose;
Just open up your soul to me,
I have no other rules.

Tell me what is in your heart,
And tell me what you seek;
Tell me of your sorrows,
And of those things that made you weak."

"Speak to me in private
About what concerns you most;
I know about your good deeds ...
You have no need to boast.

My child, you don't need lessons,
Just talk to me each day;
Tell me anything you want, dear child,
Anyone can pray."

My Light and My Salvation

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When evil men advance against me
to devour my flesh,
when my enemies and my foes attack me,
they will stumble and fall.

3 Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then will I be confident.

4 One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

5 For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
and set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 27:1-5

Creation vs. Evolution

Not 10, but 100 Questions That Every Intelligent Evolutionist Must Answer

I ran across this video series the other day and being one who finds science fascinating found this series truly enlightening. In college for about a year I was a geology major and found it quite interesting however it did cause me to question my faith. For those of you who have ever tried to work out in your own mind your faith and how it relates to scientific "truths" I believe you will find this very helpful and well worth your time to watch.

Mustard Seeds are Big Enough

5The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

6He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.

Luke 17:5-6

19Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, "Why couldn't we drive it out?"

20He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."[

Matthew 17:19-21

Word Filled Wednesday

Be still, and know that I am God.

Psalm 46:10

This verse has been on my mind a lot lately because I have been trying to hear what the Lord is calling me to do. I have been trying to put aside all the clutter in my life (financial problems, work, relationships, etc.) and just listen to the Lord for His direction and His guidance having full faith in Him to lead me toward His purpose. I included a video this week with a challenge for all of us.

Since it’s inception, the purpose of Word-Filled Wednesday is to share God’s word through photo, or graphic image combined with a verse from the Bible.

Word-Filled Wednesday is now being hosted at Internet Cafe Devotions. Please take the time to to visit and link to others participating in today's Word-Filled Wednesday. God bless you, may your day be filled with peace and joy.

LOVE by Sam Ock, Seung Hyun, Sam Kim

~ Sunday Song of Celebration ~

Lyrics ~ LOVE by Sam Ock, Seung Hyun, Sam Kim

*This LOVE is reaching to my heart
Feels so good, don't want to break apart
Hold me close, don't let me fall away
I thank you for each and every day

Morning time, rub your eyes and look around
Soak in all the beautiful sounds as you
Crack a window and hear all the forces of nature
and the blending of a whole new atmosphere
One question, reflection,
the number of mornings that you show appreciation
'cause you're alive here to see another day
Did you thank GOD for waking you up today?
To live life and live to the fullest
To show LOVE and LOVE without limits
"Live to LOVE and LOVE to live" are the
simple keys to this life we've been given
One life remains, go own it
ONE LOVE REIGNS, grow in it and
once you come to know the mercy of GOD we sing
once you come to know the LOVE of GOD we sing

*

Where do I start, Lord, how should I say this?
There's nothing better than the one that I came with
You're my shining sun and you're the pouring rain
Oh GOD you took all the pain that
was for me, it should've been for me
but you sent your son, oh so graciously
and i'll thank you each and every day
for the blessings you've poured out my way
I lay here, full of sin, full of wrongs
took your blessings to write you this song
you sent me faith, sent me hope, sent me LOVE
and they're the three greatest things from above
I'm giving you my life and everything I have
and break my heart Lord to do what you will
I know it's going to be hard but I'll listen
'Cause it's LOVE that I know is worth keeping

*

I've been searching hard all day and all night
Looking for something that makes my soul feel right
In this sinful world the hate won't stop
So I got to spread your LOVE, Lord be my solid rock
I admit, GOD I take you for granted
Your LOVE unchanging, I just can't understand it
The fact that you gave your son to die
and how I still sin, it must kill you inside
Father help me to see what you saw
all the pain and anguish when your son was nailed to the cross
I want to know you, the lover of my soul
JESUS is the only one who makes me whole
LOVE is patient, it's kind, it's everything you are
without LOVE, nothing's right, to life say "au revoir"
work through me, spread the word through sound
share the LOVE, shine the LIGHT, let your GRACE abound

Prayer for Divine Guidance

Open my lips, O Lord,
and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from your presence
and take not your holy Spirit from me.

Give me the joy of your saving help again
and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought
us in safety to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty
power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by
adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your
purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Peace

Peace I leave with you;
my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled
and do not be afraid.

For Everyday Blessings ~ Work Week

Okay, enough is enough. I am taking some time to get some work done.
I leave you this prayer until I return.

For Everyday Blessings

Dear God,
Open my eyes to the beauty of this day.
The yellow of an egg yolk in a blue bowl.
The scent of bacon frying in the pan.
The soft caress of the morning breeze.
The sound of children at play.
Awaken my senses.
Let me see, hear, and feel the beauty around me.
And be aware of the presence of the Great Artist in my everyday world.

Thank you LORD for everyday blessings.

Man goes out to his work
And to his labor until the evening.

Psalm 104:23

I just love to worship and glorify my Lord in song. I know it's not the best but here I am singing one of my favorites, Amazing Grace.

Praise the Lord! For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

Do Not Worry

Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?

In Uncertain Times, God Teaches & Leads

God is always with you through uncertain times
and He wants you to learn and grow
from these experiences to draw you closer to HIm.

Leave inexperience behind, and you will live;
pursue the way of understanding.
Proverbs 9:6 Holman CSB

But grow in the grace and knowledge
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory both now
and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Daily Affirmation

How Can a Single Affirmation Provide Power?

I saw this video the other day and began thinking about how positive affirmation can be a powerful tool in our lives. This little girl is so cute and her affirmations are full of love.

This got me to thinking that sometimes we try to make things so complicated especially when we begin to use pages of scripture to make these affirmations in our lives. I am not saying that we should not study the Bible but I began thinking how this affirmation does not have to be so overwhelming and complicated. This is especially true if your affirmation is based on the Word of God. There is amazing power to discover from simply meditating on a single Bible verse.

Meditating on the Word does NOT have to be a struggle!

Start by choosing a verse that seems to jump out at you, or that you connect with. You may not even understand why you are feeling attracted to that particular verse. Just go with it and start the process of planting it in your heart. The Psalms is a great place to find affirmations Bible verses.

Write the verse down and personalize it as your own affirmation. Keep it with you and read it to yourself as often as you think of it. Meditate on it and confess it as much as possible. Record yourself reading it and listen to it over and over.

Even if you don’t think it will have an effect just do it anyway. Why? Because we are told that God’s Word will not return void. You can have confidence that when you speak it, it will be accomplished and prosper. (Isaiah 55:11)

I challenge you to keep it simple. Grab hold of a verse from the Word of God. Make it your own and discover the life changing power you can have from a single affirmation.

May you continue to experience growing prosperity and love in your life!

Storms

I did not know His love before, the way I know it now.
I could not see my need for Him, my pride would not allow.
I had it all, without a care, the "Self-sufficient" lie.
My path was smooth, my sea was still, not a cloud was in my sky.

I thought I knew His love for me, I thought I'd seen His grace,
I thought I did not need to grow, I thought I'd found my place.
But then the way grew rough and dark, the storm clouds quickly rolled;
The waves began to rock my ship, I found I had no hold.

The ship that I had built myself was made of foolish pride.
It fell apart and left me bare, with nowhere else to hide.
I had no strength or faith to face the trials that lay ahead,
And so I simply spoke His name and bowed my weary head.

His loving arms enveloped me, and then He helped me stand.
He said, "You still must face this storm, but I will hold your hand."
So through the dark and lonely night He guided me through pain.
I could not see the light of day or when I'd smile again.

Yet through the pain and endless tears, my faith began to grow.
I could not see it at the time, but my light began to glow.
I saw God's love in brand new light, His grace and mercy, too.
For only when all self was gone could Jesus' love shine through.

It was not easy in the storm, I sometimes wondered why.
At times I thought, "I can't go on."I'd hurt, and doubt, and cry.
But Jesus never left my side He guided me each day.
Through pain and strife, through fire and flood, He helped me all the way.

And now I see as ne'er before how great His love can be.
How in my weakness He is strong, how Jesus cares for me!
He worked it all out for my good, although the way was rough.
He only sent what I could bear, and then He said, "Enough!"

He raised His hand and said, "Be still!" He made the storm clouds cease.
He opened up the gates of joy and flooded me with peace.
I saw His face now clearer still, I felt His presence strong,
I found anew His faithfulness, He never did me wrong.

And now I know more storms will come, but only for my good,
For pain and tears have helped me grow as nothing ever could.
I still have so much more to learn as Jesus works in me;
If in the storm I'll love Him more, that's where I want to be!

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of
many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith
develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work
so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1:2-4

Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth
them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so
that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because
they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for
his wonderful works to the children of men!
Psalms 107:28-31
